Anterior Lumbar Interbody & Fusion

Anterior Lumbar Interbody & Fusion is a procedure where a surgeon performs an anterior lumbar discectomy to decompress the nerve roots and the spinal cord. Following the discectomy, the surgeon will place an inter body graft that replaces the natural disc. In addition the surgeon will either place a plate and screws to stabilize the segment until fusion occurs between the two vertebrae. In some instances, both an anterior lumbar inter body & Fusion and a posterior lumbar interbody fusion is recommended.

COVID 19 UPDATE: Telehealth and Telephone Visits are now available

Dear Patients,

We want to update you on several changes in our current procedures. We are complying with the Shelter-In-Place directive from Governor Newsom. We do want to assure you that we can continue to meet your orthopedic needs. We are taking the following steps to do this:

1. Telehealth and Telephone Visits

We want to make sure that you can be cared for, even if you want to or need to remain at home due to the shelter orders. We now can offer you telehealth and telephone visits. This will be ideal for patients who need routine follow-up. We can schedule these follow-ups for you and take advantage of the benefits of technology.

2. Availability

We recognize the need to prevent overloading of our Emergency and Urgent Care Clinics in this very challenging time. We also realize that it serves you better to avoid going to an ER or Urgent care center. We are offering same-day service for patients who want to be seen urgently, either after an injury or a flareup of pain. We can take care of many fractures and injuries at our clinics. We have x-ray and MRI capability and can do many fracture reductions and stabilizations. You can call the office to be seen the same day. In many instances, we will be able to get you seen immediately. Rest assured that we are here for your orthopedic needs. We are continuing to take all the necessary steps to ensure your safety during this time. Thank you very much for putting your trust in our care.

Yours Sincerely, The Robotic Spine Institute of Silicon Valley Team
