A Posterior Lumbar fusion is a procedure where a surgeon performs a posterior discectomy and decompression to provide relief for the nerve roots and the spinal cord. A surgeon will then use pedicle screws and rods in order to stabilize the segment of interest in order to facilitate fusion between the two vertebrae.
